Paul Ward BSc

Deputy Chief Executive

As Deputy Chielf Executive, Paul has responsibility for the management and strategic development of the organisation.  Previously he edited the self help magazine Positive Nation in 1996 and 1997. 

Paul’s other role is as Non Executive Director of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and he was a Non Executive Director of South East London Strategic Health Authority between 2002-2006. He also chairs the SE London Health Council of NHS organisations.

Paul began his career in health working for the NHS in South London from 1983 - 1996, in Bromley Health Authority, Kings College Hospital and Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham Health Authority, where he was Director of Corporate Business. Previously he had responsibility for commissioning mental health, learning disabilities, community health and HIV/ drug and alcohol services in South East London. During this time he worked with the Department of Health and the Social Services Inspectorate in reviewing the delivery of HIV services, and drug/alcohol services within England and Wales.

Paul has written a number of sexual health and HIV policy reports, has served as a member of the Department of Health National Support Team for Sexual Health, is a member of the national Sexual Health Organisations Group, and has contributed to a number of Govt committees in the mental health and sexual health fields.
