One of the better kept secrets of Ladbroke Grove, the courtyard garden at Lighthouse West is a gem - don't miss the opportunity to spend some time there if you can. There are lots of different seating areas available (some are hidden away in the quiet areas, but well worth finding) and the Garden Cafe, where you can get a good range of reasonably priced food and drinks to enjoy, is only a step away.
The courtyard garden is a tribute to a small team of volunteers who have worked hard to bring it back into being after it was demolished during building works in 2000, and it has worn numerous awards and mentions in various garden competitions - most recently 1st prize in the small garden class of the London Garden Society's annual awards in 2007.
Garden volunteers are also starting to use the space for the propagation of rare or endangered plants, and hope to be able to start selling these in the future.
Make sure you check out the Kiwi tree - which fruits every year, the goldfish pond and the 'sound and smell' area designed for the visually impaired - and look out for the house Robin, who has been with us for years and will be quite happy to share your lunch with you!
