Thank you to our fundraiser of the month, Sarah Cleaver, who completed the London to Amsterdam Cycle for us in May!
Congratulations to Sarah who raised an amazing £1,152.75 from completing the London to Amsterdam Cycle 2017. From everyone at Terrence Higgins Trust, we’d like to say thank you for taking on this incredible challenge for us and supporting people living with HIV!
Why Sarah got on her bike for Terrence Higgins Trust…
'I cycled for Terrence Higgins Trust as HIV is an issue close to my heart. I wanted to try and repay the charity for the kindness and support they’ve shown me and my family though some very trying times.
'People still have grave misconceptions about HIV and they type of person who contracts it. My ultimate hope is that eventually people will be educated enough to stop stereotyping, as sometimes dealing with people’s opinions on HIV can be as challenging as the disease itself.
'Everyone has been incredibly supportive of my fundraising. When strangers have asked me what Terrence Higgins Trust do, they are sometimes a little taken aback but after talking with them they’ve always donated something!
'The cycle itself went really well, in total we managed 145 miles in 12 hours, our fastest time yet. All in all it was easier than we thought, and I think the training certainly paid off. There were a couple of hills in Essex though which almost killed us - I swear they were vertical climbs!
'Amsterdam was amazing as it was cycle lanes all the way through, most of which was through a nature reserve so the scenery was incredibly beautiful. I’d definitely like to do it again!'
