Workplace placements

two people of different race working together

Can you support people living with HIV by offering a voluntary work experience placement in your office or business?

Terrence Higgins Trust is looking for businesses and organisations to partner with to offer voluntary work experience to some of its fantastic clients!

Work Positive is an employability programme aimed at people living with HIV to help them work towards their employment goals – with voluntary work experience offering the perfect opportunity to build on-the-job skills.

Our clients have diverse backgrounds and interests and are really motivated to develop their work ready skills – perhaps this could be at your organisation?

Hosting a work experience placement is a six month commitment from October 2015 – March 2016, offering 2 days a week voluntary work experience. Travel and lunch expenses are covered by Terrence Higgins Trust.

Past placements have included:

  • admin support for a huge variety of clinical, health promotion and long term condition management services
  • reception
  • outreach and community engagement
  • IT support
  • HR trainee
  • charity shop assistants
  • purchase ledger assistants and many more

Clients are supported on the programme by a mentor, a coach and the project coordinator whilst they are on their work experience and you, as a hosting manager, can expect support from the project coordinator throughout the recruitment process and successful placement matching.

Each participant goes through a robust recruitment process to evaluate their work-readiness, commitment and motivation to the programme and each host manager has significant input into selecting their top candidates.

Terrence Higgins Trust has four years experience in hosting over 50 work experience placements and really values the skills and insight our clients are able to contribute to the work we deliver. Each year managers report back positively on the experience, how they valued supporting and empowering someone back into the workplace and the added value a new member of the team can bring.

So if you’re looking to support the Terrence Higgins Trust and its clients in a practical way, and are in a position to offer work experience, please get in touch to find out more at workpositive@tht.org.uk
