Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, 2016
The sculptor Conrad Shawcross was born in 1977 in London, where he currently lives and works. His sculptures explore subjects that lie on the borders of geometry and philosophy, physics and metaphysics. Inspired by different technologies, the artist's structures may retain in appearance the authority of machines - yet they remain enigmatic, filled with paradox and wonder.
In the end, Shawcross’ art questions what we take for granted and encourages us to see beyond the physical.
Shawcross has had solo exhibitions at institutions including the New Art Centre, Roche Court, Salisbury (2015) and ARTMIA Foundation, Beijing, China (2014).
His work has recently been exhibited nationally and internationally as part of Art Out Loud, Chatsworth House, Derbyshire; Proportio, Palazzo Fortuny, Venice; Summer Exhibition 2014, The Royal Academy, London and Light Show, The Hayward Gallery, London. He is represented by The Victoria Miro Gallery.
