Norbert Bisky grew up in the former East Germany and when the Berlin Wall fell, decided to become an artist. He was initially greatly influenced by the social realism style of art of the communist German Democratic Republic.
Using powerful colours, Norbert Bisky reformulates personal experiences of terror, travels in Brazil and influences from the world of the media into scenes of beauty, sexuality, violence and destruction. In his paintings he transmits an impression of instability that distinctly resonates with our contemporary state of affairs.
