The Colony Grill Room is located at The Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair, a listed Art Deco building dating back to 1926. The restaurant is classical in style, taking its lead from the traditional Grill Rooms originally found both in London and New York.
Dishes include clam chowder with smoked haddock, grilled cheese sandwich, chicken pot pie, New York strip on the bone, pistachio and cherry baked Alaska and do-it-yourself ice cream sundaes.
The wine list offers an international selection to complement the transatlantic menu, with an extensive offering from the New World including, but not exclusive to, the United States.
Murals depicting American sporting scenes line the walls, commissioned especially for the restaurant by California-based artist John Mattos. These include marlin fishing at Key West, polo at Santa Barbara, motor-racing at Indianapolis and greyhound racing at Scottsdale.
There are also original black and white cartoons of American and British personalities from the 1920s to 1940s (also by John Mattos) around the restaurant, such as Errol Flynn, Sir Noël Coward and Pablo Picasso.
