Helpline volunteer

an african man on the phone

Our national helpline, THT Direct, provides telephone and online support around sexual health information and advice.

Volunteers work on our helpline providing support to people affected by HIV and at risk of HIV.

As a volunteer you'll work either on the phone, via email or in administration in London.

Frontline volunteering means helping people in the moment. It is an incredibly fulfilling experience. The calls are sometimes challenging, sometimes very sad, sometimes one is at a loss for words, and sometimes I find myself having a wonderful laugh with the person on a call.

It is not an exaggeration to say that some of the most intense and honest exchanges I’ve had with other human beings over the last three years or so have happened on the THT Direct helpline.
