`I volunteer on the THT Direct helpline which is based and run from THT London office on Grays Inn Road.'

As well as working on the helpline, I have also supported the Volunteer team by sharing ideas on corporate volunteering, something I have done in a previous job. I've been volunteering since March 2014.

Supporting those people affected by HIV has been an issue I have felt strongly about for a number of years. Although the treatment of HIV now allows the majority of people to live long and healthy lives, some people still face daily challenges across their lives. To be able to support and signpost people with their HIV and general sexual health queries is hugely rewarding. There is still a long way to go and people still need advice on prevention, stigma, risk and living with the condition.

There is a great sense of purpose and family at THT! The training, support and information you receive as a volunteer is excellent and people really take the time to mentor and welcome you to the team. For me , working on the helpline allows me to support and connect with people from all backgrounds, cultures and ages.

Making a difference, promoting good sexual health practice and supporting THT achieve its broader sexual heath goals is a real privilege.
