I volunteer for THT's Work Positive Scheme, as a mentor for someone living with HIV who is long-term unemployed, and looking to get back into work.

We meet every other week and talk about the experience of work, its challenges and rewards, and consider actions for moving towards employment again.

I've volunteered for about three and a half years – first as a Community Support Volunteer, and now two years running for Work Positive.

I chose THT becasue it's not an organisation with a lot of money, and its volunteers are vital for it to deliver crucial services for people living with HIV. You can often see the tangible difference that the time you spend volunteering for THT makes, which is rewarding.

The best part of being a volunteer for THT is the great people (both those who use THT's services and its staff and volunteers); the skills and knowledge that you gain; and the recognition THT gives to those who donate their time to its cause.
