I volunteer for Terrence Higgins Trust on the reception at their Gray’s Inn Road offices in King’s Cross.
I welcome visitors and clients, making sure that they are signed in and made to feel welcome.
Working on the main reception means that I am the first point of contact, whether that be in person, email, or on the telephone, so I need to be happy and friendly. I have now been volunteering for 12 months or so and in that time I have improved my communication skills and learned more about HIV.
I really enjoy volunteering at Terrence Higgins Trust because it’s good to be part of something worthwhile and help the service users. I feel comfortable here and am able to be myself, and I have met many new people and I have made many new friends. The best thing about volunteering with Terrence Higgins Trust is that I am educating myself about HIV and all that it involves.
