If you've just found out that you have HIV, you might feel that you need to put some parts of your life on hold. You may feel that there’s so much to adjust to, and come to terms with, that some things are less of a priority at the moment.
It’s important to remember, though, that while you are living with HIV you can have a sex life, relationships, a career and children. You might not have to start taking medication for several years. Many people who have HIV live a life that is as full as they lived before their diagnosis, if not fuller in some ways.
