Staff and volunteers from THT will be raising awareness of HIV, giving out red ribbons and asking for donations, from 11.00am – 4pm.
Bristol Street Collection
Terrence Higgins Trust staff and volunteers will be out in force on World AIDS Day with red ribbons across the city of Bristol. They will be hoping to raise awareness and also vital funds for THT’s work, and will be encouraging people to show their support for people living with HIV by wearing the symbolic red ribbon.
Fastest special clinic - Bristol
THT will be running their weekly HIV testing clinic on World AIDS Day from 5pm to 7.30pm. People are encouraged to come along to this free and confidential service. No appointment is necessary but we recommend an early arrival to guarantee being seen. The test takes approx 45 mins including pre- and post-test counselling and the actual test involves taking a finger prick sample of blood. Knowing your HIV status means you can make accurate decisions about your future wellbeing. Aled Richards Centre, West Street, Bristol.
An Evening of Remembrance and Celebration - Bristol
The evening will start with a candle-lit vigil to remember those who have died, followed by poems and readings. There will also be guest speakers as well as a presentation on the global issues of HIV and AIDS. We hope that people will stay to enjoy some live music and food. Raising awareness in schools - Bristol
As part of World AIDS Day, THT will be promoting its one-hour Basic HIV Awareness training which is available to all schools and colleges across Bristol, North Somerset, B&NES and South Gloucestershire. This training is part-delivered by people living with HIV and is offered throughout the year - contact the Bristol office for details.
Street collection in the Peacock centre, Woking
Staff and volunteers from THT and Gay Surrey will be raising awareness of HIV, giving out red ribbons and asking for donations. Information will be available for people to find out more about what THT and Gay Surrey do and the services on offer in the region. Resources will be available for people to pick up and take away and staff will be on hand to answer any questions.
THT information stand at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey
Staff and volunteers from THT will be providing information about the services on offer in the region. Come over to our information stall and pick up a red ribbon to show your support for World Aids Day. From 11am - 2pm.
