Terrence Higgins Trust Young Leaders are happy to launch the fourth small grant scheme for Sex and Relationships Education (SRE). We are inviting you to come up with innovative and creative ideas about how to educate your friends.
If we like your idea then we’ll give you some money to make it happen. All you need to do is get together with your youth club, school or other organisation to develop the idea and make an application.
Sex and relationships education is an important issue for all young people and Terrence Higgins Trust Young Leaders believe that young people are best paced to educate their friends and peers because you know what you want to learn and how you would like to learn it.
We’ve produced the following resources to help you apply.
![]() | Application formThe application form gives you the chance to tell us more about your idea as it asks questions about the project you are proposing. The form also helps you explain how your idea will help educate your friends and peers. The application form is in PDF format which you can save and amend so you do not have to hand write it. You'll also be able to attach it as an e-mail and send to youngleaders@tht.org.uk. You might have to confirm these details by post as you are not able to sign electronic copies. If you're having trouble downloading the form you might need to update your acrobat reader. If you can't do that you can always download the un-interactive version of the form, print it out, write on it, and post it. If you're using an old version of acrobat then once you've saved the form you won't be able to re-edit it - so you'll either have to finish it in one sitting or update your reader. |

Also, don’t forget to look on the regional pages for examples of previously funded projects; they may help to inspire you!
Here's some tips to bear in mind when you do apply courtesy of our board members:
If possible, try and include quotes for anything you need money for. We can see whether it's value for money and that you've budgeted properly :)
Always try to refer to the guidance notes.
Check out the SRE learning outcomes young leaders hope to achieve through the project - does you project fulfil any of these?
Make sure your project is as youth-led as possible and try to put this across in the application.
Whilst your project may reach out to hundreds of young people, it is the quality of the SRE that we value more :)
Be realistic: do you honestly need to spend money on something you could obtain from somewhere else, maybe for free or for a lesser amount?
Be very specific about what you are applying for from us, can we provide you with anything that you may need to pay for if you got it from somewhere else ie. if you needed sex and relationships education, can we provide it rather than you paying for it?
Although the number of people reached is very important, it is quality over quantity and the quality of the SRE delivered means more than the number of people who have access to it.
Make sure it's youth lead.
Re-read what you write before sending it.
If hand written, please write neat.
MAKE IT ENTHUSTASTIC!! (OR we’ll all find it boring and not fund it) :-p
