1 in 15 young people who test for chlamydia are infected. Since 2003, the National Chlamydia Screening Programme has caused an upsurge in young people getting tested and, if necessary, treated for the infection.
This stops the spread of chlamydia and lets experts talk with young people about good sexual health, including safer sex and regular testing for STIs.
The Government must make sure chlamydia screening continues in order to reverse the epidemic. It's good for young people's health and we know it saves money in the long run.
The Department of Health is setting priorities for the new Public Health Service in England. We need to make sure they know people care about sexual health, so it gets the priority it deserves.
If you live in England, email your MP today and ask them to support chlamydia screening.
