Almost 20 people are still being diagnosed with HIV every day in the UK. Find out how you can help Terrence Higgins Trust to be there for them.

Campaigning

Join Terrence Higgins Trust in campaigning for equality and justice for people with HIV and AIDS, and better sexual health for all.

Your campaigning works

Last year hundreds of THT members emailed their MPs asking them to help make sexual health a priority. In July you asked your MPs to put pressure on the Government to maintain chlamydia screening of young people and in November you asked them to support our campaign to bring down levels of undiagnosed HIV.

The Government has now published a proposed Public Health Outcomes Framework. This decides how local councils will be monitored to ensure they are protecting people’s health. We are delighted that two of the measures in the framework are:

  • Chlamydia diagnosis rates per 100,000 young adults aged 15-24
  • Proportion of persons presenting with HIV at a late stage of infection

Thank you to those of you who have campaigned with us. The result is that local councils will have to confront HIV and chlamydia when they take over responsibility for public health in 2013.

Remember to keep campaigning with us in 2011!
