Campaigning is about making sure that when decisions are made about the way things work, your voice is heard. For Terrence Higgins Trust (THT), this means making sure that the needs of people living with and affected by HIV and other sexually transmitted infections are taken into account at all levels, from your local NHS to national government. This can take the form of direct lobbying of a particular person, or it can be about changing the way an issue is viewed by a wider population, for example through the use of newspapers and other media.
This guide is designed to help you explore how you might start campaigning. It won't tell you what to say, or think about any particular issue. Instead, it will give you ideas about everything from finding a campaign to add your voice to, to starting your own from scratch.
