Legacies

Terrence Higgins Trust relies on our supporters’ generosity to continue its essential work around the country, helping to support anyone who has been affected by HIV. Face-to-face Fundraising

What is Face-to-face?

Face-to-face fundraising is used by many UK charities to gain regular, valuable support whilst also very importantly raising awareness of the charity’s work. Enthusiastic fundraisers and campaigners talk to members of the public on high streets across the country and ask them to set up a regular gift to support the charity.

How are we using it?

We do not use Face-to-face fundraising all through the year as we need to allocate our resources cost effectively. In choosing where we fundraise we consider who might like to hear more about our work and support us.

This year we have decided to be at Pride:

London Sat 3rd July
Glasgow Sat 17th July
Brighton Sat 7th August

We will be working alongside our colleagues from health promotion. We’ll also be doing a few extra days of fundraising in those 3 cities leading up to each Pride event.

Why do it?

Face-to-face fundraising is a brilliant and effective way to reach supporters that may otherwise not come across our work. It’s great for us here at THT to be able to raise awareness of our projects, campaigns and services whilst also inspiring long-term regular financial support. Our face-to-face fundraising over the past few years has raised over £550,000 which is fantastic commitment from our donors.

What does it cost THT and what do we get back?

Our professional fundraisers are working for REAL Fundraising on behalf of Terrence Higgins Trust. We have invested £34,841.10 on this particular fundraising campaign. If every person who signs up gives for 5 years then THT will raise around £100,000. From the point of your first gift we can plan how best to provide our vitally important work.

  • If you donate £8 a month this could help pay for the recruitment and training of a volunteer to provide support and companionship during difficult times, such as receiving an HIV positive diagnosis.
  • If you donate £15 a month this could help THT Direct to take on and train new staff to answer more than 26,000 calls about HIV each year.
  • If you donate £40 a month this could help pay for ten people to receive an HIV test with pre– and post-test counselling, all within one hour and within a non-judgemental environment at one of our Fastest centres.
