Terrence Higgins Trust is there for people when no-one else is and that is why we need your continued support, generosity and commitment.
Over the course of this year, approximately 7,000 people will be sat down and given the news they least want – that they have HIV.
That’s 19 people every day and roughly two people in the time that it takes you to read this newsletter. We know that after a positive diagnosis, the next step is often the hardest one to take.
So we try to make it as easy as possible for people to get the help and support they need - whether through our free helpline THT Direct, in one of our newly diagnosed groups, through our Hardship Fund or our community support volunteers - which you will have read about in this issue.
But sometimes it’s really tough. Last year Terrence Higgins Trust helped a young man living with HIV through a particularly difficult time in his life. I wanted to share his thanks with you:
‘I wanted to thank you personally for the help and support that you gave to me in what was the darkest time of my life. I felt alone, confused, bewildered and hollow.
‘The support that Terrence Higgins Trust gave to me was exactly what I needed to stop myself from going insane.’
And that is what it comes down to in the end. Terrence Higgins Trust is there for people when no-one else is. Despite the difficult times we are living in, with your continued support, generosity and commitment we can continue to be there for people when they truly need us.
Thank you!
