THT, AXA Insurance and NW Brown have joined forces to offer a travel insurance product that doesn’t discriminate against individuals on the grounds of their HIV status. And better still, for every policy sold, THT may receive a donation.

How does it work? 

If you have a pre-existing medical condition such as HIV, travel insurance policies often withdraw certain medical and emergency benefits, or, worse still, impose blanket restrictions. This practice is applied particularly to those living with HIV, even when people are well and their HIV is well managed.

Freedom Travel Insurance aims to address this by providing a comprehensive travel insurance product, which includes full medical cover.

Freedom Travel Insurance has been developed in partnership with medical professionals, the National AIDS Trust and the international insurance market, and is underwritten by AXA Insurance UK plc. Its philosophy is to offer exactly the same cover to people with HIV as enjoyed by those without a pre-existing medical condition. It also aims to provide security and peace of mind that will allow you to relax, unwind and enjoy your holiday to the full, in the knowledge that you are covered by comprehensive travel insurance.

Travel insurance is essential when planning a holiday because illnesses and accidents can become traumatic and expensive when you are abroad.

Many other related benefits are included in the Freedom Travel Insurance package and people without a medical condition can use the scheme too. Partners, friends and relatives can take advantage of the excellent package of benefits and competitive prices. 

As with most insurance contracts and products that take into account medical conditions, there is a health screening. This assessment is conducted by specially trained staff. Freedom aims to make the process convenient, sensitive, confidential and discreet.
