Every 70 minutes, somebody in the UK is diagnosed with HIV. Find out how you can help Terrence Higgins Trust to be there for them.

Payroll Giving

The Payroll Giving scheme is a very simple, tax-free way for individuals to donate to Terrence Higgins Trust.

Payroll Giving is a tax-efficient and hassle-free way of supporting THT directly from your pay. Many companies, such as Barclays, J P Morgan and the Royal Bank of Scotland, match their employees' donations, generating even more income for us.

How it works

The money comes out of your salary before it is taxed, which means your gift is worth more because the money you would have given to the Inland Revenue comes to us instead.

So, if you choose to donate £10 a month to THT via Payroll Giving, it will only cost you £7.80 if you are a basic rate taxpayer, and even less if you are a higher rate taxpayer.

Making a monthly donation through your salary is simple to organise. If your company does not yet operate the Payroll Giving scheme, you can talk to your payroll department to arrange a scheme that allows you to donate through your salary.

Why you should join this scheme in 2005

If you are part of a small to medium-sized business with under 500 employees, there are two extra reasons to set up a Payroll Giving scheme this year:

  • Your company will receive £500, just for signing up.
  • The first £10 of each employee’s monthly donations to Terrence Higgins Trust will be matched by the Home Office for the first six months, potentially doubling our income.
