Advice & Advocacy Service Placement

We’re looking for volunteers to join us on placements in our Advice & Advocacy Service. In return for your commitment, you can look forward to ongoing training and supervision, as well as the chance to make a real difference over the course of your year to 18-month long placement.

Our Advice & Advocacy Service provides confidential, impartial, free and independent advice on housing, welfare benefits, employment and housing, as well as immigration signposting. It also offers advocacy, casework and liaison to ensure clients receive their entitlements, along with benefit and debt advice leading to financial improvement, housing advice leading to retained or improved housing, health care referrals and community care.

Face-to-face assessments and appointments are available at our Lighthouse South office in Waterloo, in clinics and, where appropriate, in clients’ homes, in addition to telephone and e-mail follow up. There is also a general telephone-based Advice & advocacy service and a limited emergency walk-in service at our Waterloo office. We also see clients at Lighthouse Kings.
