Almost 20 people are still being diagnosed with HIV every day in the UK. Find out how you can help Terrence Higgins Trust to be there for them.

Volunteer with us

Volunteers play a vital role in everything that we do. From helping to deliver front-line services to helping with admin, everyone who volunteers is valued beyond measure.

Clinical support volunteer

We run a range of clinical services around the country that extend from one hour HIV testing through to expanded sexual health screening and family planning services.

Our clinics are based in the community (youth centres, leisure centres etc) and provide out-of-hours testing (evenings and weekends). They are aimed at high risk groups including young people, African communities, gay men, sex workers and prisoners.

Services include provision of advice and condoms, testing for Chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV, Hep B, pregnancy and Hep B vax, provision of emergency contraception (morning after pill), contraceptive pill and contraceptive injection.

Other services operate testing in the community where your role will be to engage with the target age group (16-24 year olds) on an outreach basis in a variety of settings (e.g. universities, leisure centres, shopping centres, youth centres, outdoor events) to offer the self-administered Chlamydia test. You will help young people to access the Chlamydia screening service, offer advice and support on sexual health issues, and refer them to other services that they may need.

We’re therefore looking to recruit volunteers with evening or weekend availability to provide support to the clinic staff with a variety of roles which may include reception duties and/or admin work.
