Volunteer with usVolunteers play a vital role in everything that we do. From helping to deliver front-line services to helping with admin, everyone who volunteers is valued beyond measure. | ![]() |
We’re looking for volunteers to join us on placements in our Health Support Service. In return for your commitment, you can look forward to ongoing training and supervision, as well as the chance to make a real difference over the course of your year to 18-month long placement.
This new service is useful for anyone that has been recently diagnosed HIV positive, those thinking of starting treatment, changing treatment or experiencing side effects. Our Health Trainers are there to help people living with HIV to learn more about how anti-HIV drugs work, how the virus affects the body, and act as an information ‘safety net’. They also support and mentor people living with HIV to equip them with long-term condition management skills and develop lifestyle interventions.
The service provides face-to-face support and group skills sessions. Clients can choose where they would like to be seen, such as their treatment centre, a local community organisation or at home. The sessions can also be telephone based or via the internet. The group skills sessions have been designed to respond to the needs of the client. The office is based at Lighthouse Kings Centre in Camberwell and also at our Head office at Gray’s Inn Road; however we will also see people in the Waterloo centre.
The HIV Health Support Service is based in London - you can find out more from Alice:
