Every 70 minutes, somebody in the UK is diagnosed with HIV. Find out how you can help Terrence Higgins Trust to be there for them.

Volunteer with us

Volunteers play a vital role in everything that we do. From helping to deliver front-line services to helping with admin, everyone who volunteers is valued beyond measure.

Support group facilitator

Str8Talk is a peer support group for straight HIV+ people who do not fit into the main groups affected by HIV – i.e. who are not gay men, and who are not of African origin.

They meet twice a month, on a Wednesday evening - once at Lighthouse west London in Ladbroke Grove, and once at Positively Women in City Road. They will in the future set up other meetings, including one at a venue in South London.

We are looking for a volunteer facilitator who could take responsibility for the peer support discussion which happens in the first part of the meeting; the second part of the meeting takes place as a social event in the pub. The group is well attended with 25-45 people each time, and is supported by a website.

You will need to have experience of facilitating a large group, be heterosexual and HIV+ and be experienced in providing emotional support. Monthly supervision and support will be provided.
