What is puberty?
Puberty is the word used to describe the changes you go through as you grow from being a child to an adult. It is caused by hormones (chemicals in the blood), which send signals to your body that it is time to become sexually mature.
You will experience changes in both your body and your mind and it is not unusual to feel self-conscious or worried that you are developing differently to other people. Puberty can also be an exciting time, as you begin to feel more grown up.
