The Terrence Higgins Trust is continuing its Chlamydia Screening Programme based in the boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Newham, Barking, Dagenham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest. The service will provide targeted opportunistic screening of asymptomatic, sexually- active young men and women under the age of 25, with the intention of reducing new cases of Chlamydia infection.
THT has opportunities to join our clinical team as sessional Chlamydia Screening Assistants.
Your role will be to engage with the target age group (16-24 year olds) on an outreach basis in a variety of settings (e.g. universities, leisure centres, shopping centres, youth centres, outdoor events) to offer the self-administered Chlamydia Test. You will help young people to access the service, offer advice and support on sexual health issues, and support their referral to other services they may need.
You will have experience of working around health issues, particularly emotional and sexual health, and also have experience of working with young people in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
Shifts will be of varying duration and will involve daytime, evening or weekend work.
