Coronation Street star launches sexual health service in Leeds

Coronation Street star Liz Dawn (who plays Vera Duckworth in the soap) will officially launch a new sexual health service at St. James’ Hospital in Leeds on Monday 3rd March.  The new service has been formed by merging the sexual health teams from Seacroft Hospital and St James’ into one clinic.

Terrence Higgins Trust Yorkshire will be working closely with the new service to provide a more integrated approach to the health and social care needs of people with HIV in the region.   THT Regional Manager Jamie Kinniburgh said:  “We are delighted to be working closely with the staff team at St James’ to provide this innovative new service.  The team at St James’ have a great deal of experience in providing clinical care and support to people with HIV, and we are looking forward to providing complementary social care and support services alongside.”

Pat Cook, Clinical Nurse Specialist at St James’ said:  “The new service will provide people in Leeds with a first rate sexual health service.  Liz Dawn has a long history of supporting services at St James’, and we’re particularly pleased that she will be attending this launch.”
