Ride and Pride! Cycle from San Fransisco to LA for Terrence Higgins Trust and experience the passion, pageant and downright naughtiness of pride American-style

Fancy a visit to San Fransisco Pride in June, followed by a trip down the Pacific Coastal Highway to LA?  You could be there if you join a group of cyclists who will be making the journey to raise money for Terrence Higgins Trust.  The charity is teaming up with Greenrock to promote a fantastic twelve-day trip which will also raise vital funds for people living with, affected by and at risk from HIV and AIDS.

Simon Whiteman, Community Fundraising Manager at Terrence Higgins Trust said:  “We’re looking for keen cyclists to join us for this fantastic trip, which will help raise much needed funds for THT.   Whether you’ve visited the west coast of America before or not, we’re giving you the chance to see some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world.  Not only that, but you’ll also be in the US in time for San Francisco Pride, one of the most vibrant events in the global LGBT calendar.”

The trip leaves the UK on Friday June 25th, in time for San Fransisco Pride on June 26th and 27th, before the 66-miles-a-day cycle ride to LA, which takes eight days.  The 520 mile journey winds its way south from Half Moon Bay near San Francisco, on and off the Pacific Coastal Highway through the unspoilt Big Sur National Park, Santa Ynez Mountains, Santa Barbara and Lake Casitas, finally finishing on the beach in Santa Monica, Los Angeles.  Full back-up support and hotel accommodation is provided throughout, and there is plenty to see, including the Monterey Bay Aquarium en-route and endless wildlife such as sea otters, sea lions and pelicans.

Notes to editors

• All participants will need to raise a minimum amount in sponsorship before their place on the trip can be confirmed

• The total raised in sponsorship by each participant will cover the cost of their flights and hotel accommodation for the duration of the trip, with the balance coming to THT as money raised.  Other expenses incurred at San Fransisco Pride will need to be met by the participant

• Participants may also extend their stay in the US at the end of the ride – arrangements regarding return flights should be made when your place on the trip is confirmed
