Nick Partridge, Chief Executive, Terrence Higgins Trust said:

"The HIV epidemic doesn’t respect boundaries and continues to devastate communities across the world. Year on year we hear the terrible news that more people are infected than in any previous year and this shows that all of the education and prevention efforts being made are still only reaching a fraction of the people at risk from HIV. (It is also important to remember that 90% of people infected with HIV don’t have access to vital anti-retroviral treatments and this needs to be urgently addressed).” 

He continued:  “We’re also increasingly feeling its impact here in the UK with HIV diagnoses at their highest level ever."
