Notes to Editors

  • Less than half (45%) of the patients seeking treatment at GUM (sexual health clinic) in Brighton and Hove were seen within 48 hours. This is better than the national average of 41%, but a long way short of the government’s target that by 2008, all GUM patients receive an appointment within 48 hours.
  • Terrence Higgins Trust is the UK ’s leading HIV and sexual health charity, providing a wide range of services to over 50,000 people a year. The charity also campaigns and lobbies for greater political and public understanding of the personal, social and medical impact of HIV and AIDS.
