A spokesperson for Terrence Higgins Trust said:
“Properly used, condoms are always the best protection against HIV and many other sexually transmitted infections.
Anyone worried about whether a recent condom purchase may have been counterfeit should check the batch number on the box. If they are still concerned, they should call THT Direct Helpline 0845 1221 200. If a condom has broken during sex, getting health advice swiftly can still prevent pregnancy or transmission of HIV.”
