14 November 2005 THT comment on news a man was diagnosed with HIV and then given the all-clear 14 months later | ![]() |
Nick Partridge, Chief Executive at Terrence Higgins Trust commented:
“Andrew’s situation is incredibly rare, we’ve only heard of one other similar case in the history of the HIV epidemic. It’s essential that it’s fully investigated to find out how and why this has happened. Until we have the results of a thorough investigation, we can’t draw any firm conclusions. In the meantime it’s important to emphasise that HIV is still the fastest growing serious health condition in the UK. There is no vaccine and no cure. Safer sex is still the most effective way to protect ourselves from HIV.”
