Terrence Higgins Trust PEP booklet wins BMA prize

Terrence Higgins Trust has won a patient information award from the British Medical Association (BMA) for its booklet on PEP (post exposure prophylaxis). The booklet was ‘highly commended’ - the second highest honour after first place.

The PEP booklet gives gay men all the information they need about Post Exposure Prophylaxis. It explains what PEP is, how it works, when it’s appropriate to use it and how to get it. The BMA reviewer said the booklet was "direct and to the point and importantly, acknowledges the uncertainties about PEP.”

Will Nutland, Head of Health Promotion at Terrence Higgins Trust said “I’m delighted our booklet has had this recognition from the BMA. Gay men needed something which offers the facts about PEP and we always aim to provide clear, straightforward information. The issues we cover can be complex but our leaflets don’t have to be.”

There were 223 entries to the Patient Information Award category and only 12 were highly commended. It can be ordered online at www.tht.org.uk or by calling THT Direct on 0845 12 21 200.
