July 29, 2010 Terrence Higgins Trust re-launches support group for gay men with Hepatitis C and HIV | ![]() |
On Thursday 12 August, Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) will be running another six week course for gay men who are living with HIV and Hepatitis C. The group will meet each week from 6.30 - 9.30pm in central London.
The course looks at living with both HIV and Hepatitis C, but the primary focus will be on Hepatitis. Issues covered include dealing with the impact of diagnosis, the medical aspects of Hepatitis C, treatment, sex and disclosure and coping emotionally.
The course will be run by someone with personal experience of HIV and Hepatitis C. A doctor and a clinical nurse from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital will lead sessions on treatment and the medical side of things.
Gordon Mundie, Groupwork Service Manager at Terrence Higgins Trust said “Living with HIV and Hepatitis C can be tough emotionally as well as physically. Many men find that they could do with some extra help with their dual diagnosis. Whether they are on Hep C treatment, thinking about it or it has failed, sometimes men can feel isolated, and can have lots of questions that remain unanswered. This course will give men the chance to meet others in the same situation, share experiences and get practical support in a relaxed, informal environment. If you’re interested, please get in touch to find out more.”
