Fastest Direct HIV postal testing service

This service is currently locally funded for gay men and African people in the London Boroughs of Harrow and Barnet. It is also separately funded for everyone living in Scotland.

If you do not belong to these groups and want a free HIV test, you can find your local testing centre by using our clinic finder.

  • This service is only available to anyone living Scotland and to gay or bisexual men and African men and women living in the London Boroughs of Harrow and Barnet.
  • Applicants must be 16 years old or over.
  • Tests must be for your own personal use.

Textanywhere

We may use the Textanywhere service to text information to you regarding your test and your result. We may also, with your consent, text you in the future to remind you to get tested again or to inform you of other Terrence Higgins Trust services.

Textanywhere will only collect information necessary to provide the Textanywhere service. This includes name and contact information for clients, for example mobile phone numbers.

Textanywhere will hold your personal information on their systems for as long as is necessary for the service you have signed-up. This time frame will be for a period of up to two years. After this period, they will continue to hold data for as long as it is required for tax and recording purposes. After the cancellation of any account, they will not use the data for any business or marketing purpose other than for tax and recording purposes.

Sexual Health Clinic Patient Recall Pilot

1 March - 31 March 2015

Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) and a number of sexual health clinics are jointly providing a patient recall programme where clinic patients are invited to use the THT Fastest Direct online HIV postal testing service. The clinics that THT are working with are:

  • Barts
  • Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals
  • Central Manchester University Hospitals
  • King’s College Hospital
  • Mortimer Market
  • St Mary’s Hospital

If you are eligible for this service you will be contacted by your clinic by text message with a web link to the Fastest Direct online service. You must return your HIV postal test kit to our laboratory partner, The Doctor’s Laboratory (TDL), by 31 March 2015 to take part in this pilot service.

  • The personal data you provide online will be used by THT for the provision of this service. THT will be data controller for the purpose of running our website and the Fastest Direct service.
  • The data will be shared with our laboratory partner TDL for the purpose of processing your test.
  • The data will be shared with your clinic for the provision of your care.
  • THT and your clinic are joint Data Controllers for this pilot service, as defined by the Data Protection Act 1998. TDL are a Data Processor as defined by the Data Protection Act 1998.
  • All personal data will be stored and transmitted securely.

User-generated content

  • This website contains user-generated content for which we accept no responsibility.
  • The user comments and ratings that appear on content pages are generated by visitors to the website and do not reflect the views of Terrence Higgins Trust or any of its employees.
  • If you submit written or video content to the website, Terrence Higgins Trust will not publish it elsewhere without your consent. However you should be aware that other users may be able to copy or download any content published on the website.
  • Users are expected to only post lawful material that does not infringe the rights of, restrict or inhibit anyone else's use of the website.
  • Terrence Higgins Trust do not review material prior to publication. However post publication it retains the right to edit or delete forum posts.

Online counselling

  • Our online counselling service is run in conjunction with the George House Trust and the Terrence Higgins Trust HIV Health Trainers service.
  • The online counselling service is based in the UK and subject to UK laws.
  • Online counselling is a convenient way of exploring personal issues that concern you from the comfort of your own home. You will need to feel reasonably comfortable using a computer and be aware that sometimes technology can present its own problems.
  • Terrence Higgins Trust do not warrant that its counselling service will be uninterrupted or error free, that defects will be corrected, or the server that makes it available are free of viruses or bugs. You acknowledge that it is your responsibility to implement sufficient procedures and virus checks (including anti-virus and other security checks) to satisfy your particular requirements.
  • Online counselling can work well but sometimes there’s no substitute for talking to someone.You can contact THT Direct for information, support and advice about HIV and sexual health.
  • If you are feeling suicidal or you are experiencing an immediate crisis, please seek immediate help. The Samaritans offer a 24-hour phone and web service (08457 90 90 90). Online counselling is not a crisis service.
