World AIDS Day 2011

We're asking thousands of people across the country to unite and be proud to make a big noise about HIV and AIDS by Standing Up and Standing Out on this important day.

Wear your red ribbon with pride and you’ll be Standing Up and Standing Out for people living with HIV. Selling red ribbons to your friends, family and colleagues is a simple way for you to make a real difference for those living with, and affected by, HIV.

But there are other ways that you can Stand Up and Stand Out You and help remember those who’ve lost their lives to AIDS. You could:

• Hold a commemorative church service and remind your community that the HIV epidemic is still around today. 
• Hold a collection after the service to raise vital funds and help us to continue supporting people living with HIV.

In the UK, the number of people living with HIV will reach 100,000 before the year is out and there is still no cure. HIV thrives on ignorance and shame. After 30 years, it is time to end the stigma associated with HIV and AIDS once and for all.

In return for your community Standing Up and Standing Out for us we pledge to work tirelessly to: 

• Continue to provide vital care and support for people living with HIV and their families. 
• Raise awareness of HIV to those most at risk to help prevent further spread of the virus. 
• Spend every penny you raise wisely
