We're asking thousands of people across the country to unite and make a big noise about HIV and AIDS by Standing Up and Standing Out on 1 December. Whether it's being bold and flashing some red pants or doing something a little more restrained like selling red ribbons is entirely up to you!
Thirty years ago Terry Higgins lost his life to HIV. Since then Terrence Higgins Trust has helped thousands of people living with HIV and hundreds of thousands at risk of sexual ill health. A lot has changed in 30 years, but the fight against stigma has never been tougher.
This year we're asking you join us in Standing Up and Standing Out for the 100,000 people living with HIV in this country right now and telling the world that people with HIV need support, not judgement.
Wear your red ribbon with pride and you'll be Standing Up and Standing Out for people living with HIV. Selling red ribbons to your friends, family and colleagues is a simple way for you to make a real difference for those living with, and affected by, HIV.
But there are so many other ways that you can Stand Up and Stand Out whether you're fundraising in your home, at your work place or out in your community. If you're getting some friends together in the comfort of your own home why not host a cheeky Red Pants Party and serve up some sizzling Scarlet Cocktails? Or perhaps you'd like to host a Big Red Quiz? We've done the hard work of coming up with the questions so you just need to round up the competitors, whether that's a group of colleagues after work or friends and family at your local pub.
Old favourites such as getting sponsored to do something daring for World AIDS Day, dying your hair red, or holding a cake/book/jumble sale are all fantastic fundraising activities that can work in all situations and environments whether it’s at home, work, or in your community.
