We hope you enjoy your first edition of Positive Update. myHIV has been up and running for over four months now and it’s great that so many of you have joined the myHIV community.
You've told us about what topics you'd like covered on the site and we've listened. We now have a whole new section called HIV and your body, which covers a range of topics from HIV and ageing to health problems such as brain impairment and diabetes. You also told us that you'd like to see more on relationship issues so we've got some new pages on supporting some who has HIV, as well as pages on breakups and stigma.
For those of you that would like to hear other peoples experiences of living with HIV, check out Your Stories, where you can read personal stories or watch videos from a wide range of people around the UK.
For a more interactive experience of peer support, sign in to the Community Forums, where you can share your thoughts, questions and tips on how to live well with HIV.
One of the most active topic threads has been Poz & the Rest of the World, which has been discussing how to take the fear out of HIV testing and diagnosis and see both as opportunities for empowerment which can help us to take control of our health. It has created a lot of discussion, including suggestions for raising awareness such as HIV flash mobs.
The Forums are also a great space for making new friends. Members have set up drop-in times between 8-10pm on Wednesdays and Sundays when there are people around to chat via our ShoutBox instant messenger.
And it's not only virtual friends you could make - we now have a group of people who will be getting together in person for the Walk for Life who first met in the Forums. Check in and chat – it’s a very welcoming and supportive space.
Finally, don't forget to tell us your thoughts and make suggestions about topics and issues you'd like us to cover in the future. Please let us know so that we can ensure that you get the information and support that you want and need.
