Generic name: emtricitabine (also known as FTC) and tenofovir disoproxil

Class: Combined NRTI (nukes) tablets
For emtricitabine:Common: nausea, diarrhoea, headache, raised kinase levels which can cause muscle pain and weakness, skin darkening especially in children, difficulty sleeping, abnormal dreams, dizziness, vomiting, stomach pain, rash, pain. Rare: anaemia, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat.For tenofovir disoproxil:Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness, low blood phosphate levels, weakness, rash, headache, stomach pains, fatigue, bloating, flatulence, liver problems. Rare: Kidney problems, bone thinning, lactic acidosis, pancreatitis, lipodystrophy.
Tablet comprises 200mg emtricitabine and 245mg tenofovir disoproxil.Take one tablet once a day.
Take with food.
