London Gay Men’s Chorus to give festive performance on London Underground in aid of THT

The London Gay Men’s Chorus (LGMC) will be giving a one-off performance at Angel tube station on Monday 10th December in support of HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust’s Stand Up and Stand Out anti-stigma campaign for World AIDS Day. The festive performance, which starts at 5pm, will raise funds to help the charity provide services and support for people living with HIV across the UK.
The recital will see the Chorus going back to its roots by mirroring its first ever performance, which was also a fundraiser for Terrence Higgins Trust at Angel tube station in 1991.
Staff and volunteers from Terrence Higgins Trust will be at Angel alongside the choir, collecting donations, providing information about the charity’s work, and promoting the Stand Up, Stand Out campaign, which aims to banish HIV-related stigma.
Amelia Woods, Senior Community Fundraiser at Terrence Higgins Trust, said: “We are delighted that the London Gay Men’s Chorus has decided to give our Stand Up, Stand Out World AIDS Day campaign a festive flavour this year. The event will provide the perfect opportunity for passers-by to get into the Christmas spirit while helping to raise funds for people living with HIV. Almost half of people living with HIV in the UK reside in London, so it’s essential that we make a stand against the stigma that still surrounds the condition here in the capital.
“We hope lots of people will come by on the day to enjoy a fantastic performance in aid of a great cause.”
The London Gay Men’s Chorus will be performing from 5pm on Monday 10th December in the ticket hall at Angel tube station. Passers-by will have the opportunity to get a World AIDS Day red-ribbon and make a donation to Terrence Higgins Trust.
