East Sussex residents invited to World AIDS Day ‘The Red Party’ at Azur, St LeonardsonSea
Azur at The Marina Pavilion is inviting people across East Sussex to a one-off ‘Red Party’ on Sunday 2nd December to mark World AIDS Day (1st December) and support HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust’s Stand Up, Stand Out campaign. The evening of music, comedy, dancing and celebration will run from 5pm until late and the funds raised will help Terrence Higgins Trust provide services and support for people living with HIV locally.
The charity is inviting people to come dressed in red to the event, which will feature entertainment from a mystery cabaret act. Party-goers will also have the opportunity to take part in a raffle and try their luck at winning a number of prizes donated by local businesses.
Staff and volunteers from Terrence Higgins Trust will be at the event holding collections, providing information about sexual health and services available in the region, and promoting the charity’s Stand Up, Stand Out campaign, which aims to banish HIV-related stigma this World AIDS Day.
Daniel Murray, from Terrence Higgins Trust in East Sussex, said: “We are delighted that the Azur has chosen to support our Stand Up, Stand Out campaign this World AIDS Day by putting on what promises to be a spectacular celebration! A third of people with HIV in the UK say they have experienced discrimination because of their condition – this is something that urgently needs to change. We hope to see people from across East Sussex out in force at the event, showing their support for our anti-stigma campaign and helping us raise funds to support people living with HIV in the area.”
Tickets for the ‘The Red Party’ cost £5 in advance or £7.50 on the night. The event will take place at Azur at the Marina Pavilion, St. Leonards On Sea, East Sussex, TN38 0BU. As well as taking part in the Azur’s Red Party, Terrence Higgins Trust’s team in East Sussex will also be marking World AIDS Day by holding special collections and a red ribbon distribution at Hastings train station on Friday 30th November.
