Drag queens line up to tell tales on Dusty O, as London’s only Drag Roast returns
Thursday 14 February 2013
Drag stars Rose Garden, Kandi Kane and Mzz Kimberley will spend the next two weeks preparing their most withering put-downs, having been confirmed as ‘roasters’ at the return of London’s only Drag Roast, organised by QX magazine and the Royal Vauxhall Tavern in aid of Terrence Higgins Trust.
The event, which will take place at the RVT on Wednesday 27th February, will see cabaret legend Dusty O roasted by a panel of her fellow drag queens, before getting the chance to snatch back the mic and turn the tables on the panel. Host Myra Dubois has the unenviable task of trying to keep order on the night, while all the money raised through ticket sales will be used by Terrence Higgins Trust to support those living with and at risk of HIV.
Ahead of the performance, Dusty O said: "I am really looking forward to hearing what mud my dearest and most geriatric friends will attempt to hurl at me . For most of them it will be their first chance for years to play for a crowd of more than six people, so I am sure they will be very excited at the prospect . They have been given Carte Blanche to kiss and tell as its for such a fantastic charity. I myself have been scouring my old diaries and believe me "mud will be flung tonight”.
Roaster Mzz Kimberley replied: “I've waited and waited for years and years and that day has finally come to put that OLD BITCH in her place. Back in my Heaven days she walked around as the Queen. I thought to myself, one day you old whore your ass will be mine.”
The Drag Roast will take place on Wednesday 27th February at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern (372 Kennington Lane, SE11 5HY). Doors open at 7.00pm, and the performance starts at 8.30pm. Tickets cost £10, all of which will be donated to Terrence Higgins Trust. For further information, and to buy your ticket, please visit www.rvt.org.uk/event/drag-roast-dusty-o.
