HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust is calling on the people of Nottingham to stand up against HIV-related stigma this World AIDS Day (1st December). To mark the occasion, the charity is putting on a number of events as part of its Stand Up, Stand Out campaign. The campaign aims to raise funds for people living with HIV and banish the stigma that still exists around the condition today.
Amber Rudd, MP for Hastings & Rye, is to take a public HIV test on 23rd November in an effort to encourage more local people to test for the virus. Ms Rudd will attend Hastings’ Station Plaza sexual health clinic for a simple finger-prick blood test. Her result will be delivered within 20 minutes.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson is backing a major HIV testing campaign in the run up to World AIDS Day on 1 December. HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust, which marks its 30th anniversary with a reception at City Hall on 19th November, has launched England's first ever National HIV Testing Week. The week runs from 23-30 November and aims to increase testing among the most at risk populations, gay men and Africans in particular.
