Lisa Power, Policy Director

Lisa Power joined the Terrence Higgins Trust in 1996 as the Health Advocacy Team Manager, organising health promotion and information for people with HIV

She then developed the organisation’s work on new HIV treatments and with African communities in the UK.

In 1999 Lisa established, and now leads, a designated team to manage Terrence Higgins Trust's high profile policy and social campaigns work. Publications from this team include:

  • Social Exclusion and HIV
  • Give Us A Job – barriers to employment for people with HIV
  • Tales from the Clinic
  • Blueprint for Change.

Lisa has been consistently involved in human rights campaigns for the past 25 years, first as a writer and activist for lesbian and gay rights and then, since the 1980s, in HIV and sexual health. She was a founder member of the Stonewall Group, the UK’s leading gay rights lobby group, and was General Secretary of the International Lesbian and Gay Association, being the first person to speak at the United Nations on behalf of gay rights.

Lisa has spoken at, and presented research to, many international and national bodies and conferences.
