Our policy and campaigns team works with Government, civil servants and other key decision-makers across Scotland, England and Wales to ensure that the voices of people living with HIV or at risk of poor sexual health are heard.
We develop priorities and aims for each country that we think will help to improve the lives of people who are living with HIV and improve sexual health. We then lobby and campaign on them.
Our '10 Things' series of documents sets out the key areas that we want governments in Scotland, Wales and England to make progress on.
Scotland
- Create a new Scottish Government target for HIV.
- Commit to a National Sexual Health Strategy beyond 2011.
- Clarify and reform the law on criminal prosecution.
- Monitor the delivery of Sex and Relationships Education in schools.
- Maintain ring-fenced blood-borne virus prevention funding.
- Expand school-based sexual health services.
- Develop a national campaign to challenge HIV stigma in public services.
- Safeguard social care for people living with HIV.
- Improve sexual health and reduce blood-borne viruses in prisons.
- Address the research gap on sex work.

Wales
We are currently developing a new version of '10 Things' for Wales if you would like to find out more or make suggestions about what this should include, email: campaigns@tht.org.uk
Consultations
Terrence Higgins Trust regularly responds to Government consultations on health, social care, equality, disabilities and other issues that can affect people who are living with or at risk of HIV or poor sexual health. Some of these matters are dealt with through the UK Parliament, and others are devolved to the Scottish Government and Welsh Assembly. Read our latest consultation responses.
E-campaigns
We regularly run e-campaigns which offer pre-written letters outlining issues around HIV and sexual health. These are sometimes specific to Scotland, Wales or England or may be relevant to the UK as a whole.
