MAC AIDS Fund have supported Terrence Higgins Trust since 1997, donating over half a million pounds to the charity. They have most recently agreed to support our Hardship Fund with a donation of £150,000 for 2011/12.
This money will be used to build an online application system to access the fund, as well as being used to give grants of between £150 - £250 to people living with HIV who are in need of immediate relief from poverty.
'People living with HIV are more likely to experience poverty and hardship than the general population. HIV discrimination makes it more difficult for people to access mainstream hardship grants and benefits and as a result there are still high levels of poverty and unemployment among people with HIV.' says Nancy Mahon, Executive Director of the MAC AIDS Fund and Senior Vice President at MAC Cosmetics.
'This is why we felt it was so important to support Terrence Higgins Trust's Hardship Fund. It delivers vital grants to HIV positive people in crisis situations and is a real lifeline for people living with HIV in desperate need of financial relief. We are delighted to be able to show our support.'
