Payroll giving

Payroll giving

Payroll giving is an easy, tax efficient way of donating money to Terrence Higgins Trust directly from your pay.

Many companies - such as Barclays, Diageo and the Royal Bank of Scotland - match or double their employees' donations, generating even more income for us.

How it works

The money comes out of your salary before it is taxed, which means your gift is worth more because the money you would have given to the Inland Revenue comes to us instead.

So, if you choose to donate £10 a month to Terrence Higgins Trust via Payroll Giving, it will only cost you £7.80 if you are a basic rate taxpayer, and even less if you are a higher rate taxpayer.

Making a monthly donation through your salary is simple to organise. If your company does not yet operate the Payroll Giving scheme, you can talk to your payroll department to arrange a scheme that allows you to donate through your salary.

Payroll Giving is an ideal way for organisations to generate a vital income because a regular donation allows us to plan ahead with certainty to ensure we’re delivering the best services to the people who need it the most.

Research shows Payroll Giving benefits business by:

  • boosting your social responsibility profile
  • enhancing community involvement programmes
  • improving staff recruitment and retention.
