30th Anniversary edition

trustliving

The latest issue of Trust Living, the newsletter for Terrence Higgins Trust supporters, marks our 30th anniversary. It also looks back at the early days of HIV and AIDS when many people, including Terry Higgins, tragically died.

Trust LivingIn this special issue, our Chief Executive Sir Nick Partridge talks about Terry’s legacy. We also chat with Tony Whitehead, one of the founders of Terrence Higgins Trust, who talks about living with HIV into old age. There are now many people aged 50 and over who are living with HIV, who are struggling to manage the challenges of older age as well as HIV. That’s why we’ve set up the Health, Wealth and Happiness Project - a groundbreaking initiative based on our research into the needs of people over 50 with HIV.

You can read about it in this issue - just click on the magazine.

We all, quite rightly, thank the people who started the Trust in 1982 as a constructive response to the fear and anger of a community threatened by a new killer disease. But we also thank you – our loyal supporters, the people who have stuck their hands in their pockets over the years to make sure that this response happened, and grew, and changed as the virus changed. Without you, none of this work would have happened.

Please donate £30 today to enable us to continue our groundbreaking work and to help fund our vital services, some of which you will read about in this issue of Trust Living.

Terrence Higgins Trust was recently awarded the new national HIV Prevention England contract, working to help the two populations most at risk – gay men and African people in the UK – avoid HIV transmission. You can read about that in Trust Living too, and about our new initiative One Clinic, which offers HIV care to patients in GP surgeries.

Now more than ever, we rely upon the kindness and support of our friends - the people who know how important it is for someone scared about their sexual health or coming to terms with an HIV diagnosis to have a friendly, understanding voice at the end of that phone, on the internet or face-to-face. Thank you.

Please make a donation today and help Terrence Higgins Trust continue its vital work. Your support is much appreciated.

• £30 could help fund counselling sessions, providing practical and emotional support for people in distress and helping them to feel that they are not alone.

• £50 could help fund the THT Direct Helpline which provides essential support and information about HIV and issues in sexual health. Your donation will have a part in ensuring the delivery of this vital service in the future.

• £100 could help fund a grant from our Hardship Fund, that helps someone living with HIV in severe poverty afford essential items such as food or heating.

Yes! I will help those people most challenged by HIV.

Thankyou.

Together we can stop HIV in its tracks

We have been working tirelessly for 30 years to try and stop the spread of HIV in the UK. A gift of £30 today can pay for someone living with HIV to visit a local school or college and open young people’s eyes to the risks of unsafe sex. There's still no cure for HIV, but with your help we can stop it in its tracks.
