Hundreds to Toss Off this Pancake Day
Thursday 23 February 2017
From Dundee to Devon and Gateshead to Guernsey, people up and down the country are hosting parties to support the work of Terrence Higgins Trust this Pancake Day.
Rugby teams, students and work colleagues are all heading to the kitchen for a flipping good time this Pancake Day to raise funds to support people living with HIV.
That’s because it’s Pancake Day on Tuesday 28 February and we’ve claimed it for our own. You can sign up for your Toss Off party pack now.
We want you to grab your frying pan, pick your favourite toppings and invite your friends round for a pancake party. The money raised will help to fund counselling, support groups and awareness raising.
The option to Toss Off at work is proving particularly popular, with councils, cafes and supermarkets all getting involved. Gay rugby team Villages Spartans in Manchester and the Channel Islands’ LGBT charity Liberate are also in on the action.
Toss Off on tour
We’ve been out and about across the UK to promote the joys of Toss Off and to talk about our local services, including counselling, peer support and STI screening.
Josie Finch, from our team in Suffolk, said: “It was flipping great fun putting on our chef’s hats and taking our frying pans out and about in Ipswich. There was lots of interest in what we were up to – and about the work of Terrence Higgins Trust.
“We know everyone loves pancakes, so we’re hoping as many people as possible will use Pancake Day as an opportunity to support Terrence Higgins Trust.”
The team is holding a Toss Off party in Ipswich at Museum Street Cafe in the city centre on Pancake Day, Tuesday 28 February, 4.30-7pm.
We also headed out to Cardiff city centre, Dundee Castle and to a sexual health fair at Oxford Brookes University to whip up interest. In Cardiff, there was even the choice of pancakes or Welsh cakes.
